PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) received the Best Corporate Transparency and Emission Reduction Award of 2024 with a “Green” rating for Corporate Emission Reduction Transparency and a "Platinum" rating for Corporate Emission Calculation Transparency. The award was presented directly by Corporate Secretary of InvestorTrust, Frans Imung, to WIKA's Senior Manager of Corporate Governance and Community Development (CGCD), Yuherni Sisdwi R, in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/5).
The award, initiated by InvestorTrust in collaboration with Bumi Global Karbon (BGK), is a form of recognition and appreciation for companies that have earnestly and tangibly succeeded in reducing carbon emissions in their business processes. This achievement has also been reported by the Company in its 2023 fiscal year Sustainability Report, based on GRI standards and POJK 51 of 2017.
In addition to being a form of recognition for the Company, this award is believed to be able to motivate companies to assist the Government in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, so that Indonesia's net zero emission (NZE) can be achieved by 2060 or sooner, in line with the Government's target.
WIKA's Corporate Secretary, Mahendra Vijaya, stated that this award is a testament to WIKA's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint in every business process. WIKA has also established a decarbonization roadmap with clear emission reduction targets each year.
"The Company believes that the implementation of carbon footprint reduction programs and environmental conservation programs, supported by comprehensive carbon calculations, will help the government control climate change and preserve the environment," said Mahendra.
